The Garfield Re-2 School Board named Susan Birdsey as the Superintendent of Schools for the Garfield School District No. Re-2 at the June 8, 2010 school board meeting.
Dr. Birdsey filled the position left vacant when Dave Smucker resigned to become the Superintendent in Prescott, Ariz. She was named Assistant Superintendent in July 2008 and has been with Garfield Re-2 since 2005 when she was named Rifle Middle School principal, a role she fulfilled for three years. Before joining the Garfield Re-2 family, Birdsey served as both a teacher and Asst. Principal in the Creede School District.
Dr. Birdsey has a Bachelors of Science in Elementary Education from the University of Texas at El Paso and a Master of Arts degree in Administrative Leadership and Policy Studies from the University of Colorado. She recently finished her Ed.D in Educational Leadership from Walden University.

Brad Ray joins Re-2 staff
The Garfield School District No. Re-2 is pleased to announce that Brad Ray will become the Assistant Superintendent beginning July 1, 2012.
Mr. Ray comes to Garfield Re-2 from Roaring Fork Re-1 where he served a variety of roles including Assistant Principal and later Principal at Glenwood Springs Middle School and most recently as Assistant Superintendent overseeing the areas of curriculum, Instruction and Assessment, and reform agendas through the Colorado Department of Education.
Ray holds an Elementary Education degree from Hiram College in Hiram, OH and a Masters in Educational Leadership from Ashland University in Ashland, OH.
